As the state tournament approaches, the SHS tennis team maintains an optimistic attitude. They have set high expectations for themselves and intend to reach them.
“We really want to get first place,” said sophomore Adam Berry, “we have some tough competition, but I really think we can do it.” The boy’s team is facing experienced opponents, such as the defending state champion, Gillette, and Cody, who placed second last year. “They are good, but we are an all around strong team.” said sophomore Lachlan Brennan.
The girl’s team has some competition as well. “Natrona is our biggest threat,” said senior Laramie Westcott, “but our team is tired of getting second place at state. We’re ready to be state champions.”
But winning isn’t their only motivation, “We are all just one big family and we don’t want to let each other down,” Westcott said, “If we all play our best the team will benefit.”
The Sheridan tennis team ends their season at state in Gillette, Sept. 27.
