The gym of Sheridan High School was filled with excitement on Saturday, Nov. 1, after the Lady Broncs defeated Cheyenne Central to claim the title. The weekend started with the team beating Laramie in three sets (25-24, 25-23, 25-21). What followed was a three set loss to Gillette (25-19, 25-15, 25-18). The final Friday game was against Cheyenne South, where the Lady Broncs won in 3 sets (25-13, 25-14, 25-19). The team kept the momentum going into Saturday, but had a tough opponent. They faced off against the number one ranked Cheyenne East. Sheridan rallied together and upset East in four sets (25-16, 17-25, 25-11, 25-20). The team then faced Cheyenne Central in quite possibly the closest game of the year. The final score was (17-25, 19-25, 25-20, 25-18, 19-17) with Sheridan ending up in first. Sheridan is headed to state this weekend Nov. 6-8.
